Day 2

Updated: Oct 2, 2022

Unfortunately our original plan for the day didn’t work out due to an injured knee and bad weather. So we had to think of an alternative plan for today, which we managed pretty good. Starting off strong with a walk to RAW-Gelände where we bumped into a lot of subcultures. Continuing our walk along the East Side Gallery, which is a part of the Berlin Wall where artists from all around the world had the opportunity to spray paint something meaningful. Then we walked to the tram and went to Alex (Alexanderplatz) to see the TV tower and have lunch. The weather wasn’t so kind to us so when we were on our way to Museums Island we had to stop at the Humboldt Forum and wait for the rain to go away. After some time we went to the Pergamon Museum to hide from the next heavy rain. The Pergamon museum is filled with ancient things from todays Turkey and Egypt. The most popular things are the gate of Ishtar and the Pergamon altar. After that we went to the Hacke'sche Hofe Courtyards, built in the Jugendstil, 19th century. Then we walked through “Unter den Linden” which is a boulevard in the centre of Berlin with a lot of very expensive shops and restaurants. Potsdamer Platz was our next stop where we went in the Berlin mall to get dinner and be fit for Reichstagsgebäude where we had an appointment at 7 p.m. to look at the glass cupola which represents the thought of politics having to be transparent. There was a lot of security and it felt like an airport. After that very long day we went home and chilled for the rest of the evening.
